Okay! I’m Jesse Venbrux, known as “2Dcube” on the Game Maker Community. I enjoy making games and am now trying to make a living with it.
I’m tall, Dutch, have a dark sense of humor, have worked and lived in Japan, enjoy traveling, am interested in art, design, society.
Thanks. You’ve had an eventful few years in game design working with companies like YoYo Games and Q-games, but just recently you’ve stepped into the world of self publishing with your brand new team Bit Ate Bit. How does this compare to working for another company?
You start with a very good question! Working at YoYo [Games] and Q-Games were both great experiences and taught me many things. I love the self control there is with having my own company, but I just started and don’t know if I’ll succeed or fail, it’s hard work. When it comes to my work I’m a bit too much of an artist who wants to do it exactly my own way so doing games at a company can be difficult for me, and game companies often don’t allow you to release your own stuff outside of work. The other reason for having my own company is so that I can keep doing more traveling whenever I want.
